ConnectorRadio Product FAQs
- I set up a person in my office as an administrator, but when he logs in, he doesn't get to any of the second level navigation buttons – none of the admin buttons expand. What should I do?
- You need to set up privileges for this account. When you first change an account from member to administrator, using the Change Type button, a new button will be added beside the member's account called Privileges. Click on this button. You will see a list of all of the functions available, with a checkbox to the left of each. Click on the checkbox to grant this person access to individual functions, then click on the 'Update Access Privilege' button. Now when they log in, they will see buttons for the functions you have granted them access to.
- Where do I find stats for the contests now that they're over?
- On the admin side of the website, go to Contests / Contest Statistics. For each contest, it shows you the number of contest entries, the number of page views of the contest promotion page and the number of new members who signed up for an account from the contest promotion page.
- How do I upload a file for users to download from a link on the website?
- You can upload a pdf, mp3 or jpeg as a link using the content editor on any content page, using the following steps:
- Edit the page you want to add the file link to, from the Pages & Navigation function, under Site Content.
- Select the text that you want to be the link to the file.
- Click on the 'Insert/Edit Link' button in the content editor (it looks like a globe with a chain). This is the same button you use to create a link on a page.
- On the 'Link Info' tab, make sure you have the Link Type set to 'URL'. This is the default.
- Click on the 'Browse Server' button that appears below the Protocol / URL fields.
- You get the same 'Browse Server' pop-up window that you use for adding an image. Add your pdf document the same way you would an image. (Use the Browse button to find the file on your computer; press the Upload button to upload the file to the server - it will now show on the list above; Select the pdf file from the list).
- When you select the file from the list, the URL now becomes the link to the file you just uploaded.
- I just added a page to my Listener / Member club content. But when I log in, I can't see the page.
- Be sure you are logging in with a plain member, not account your admin account. The Listener Club website content only shows up for member accounts when they log in.
- How can I upload a video to a content page, without using YouTube?
- You will need to download and install a third party video converter to do this. The Freeware one that I used was DVDVideoSoft.com. You can download it at http://dvdvideosoft.com/products/dvd/Free-Video-to-Flash-Converter.htm. This software will convert any video vile (.mov, .avi) to a Flash file. Note that you just need the one download - you can ignore all of the other downloads.
- When you install DVDVideoSoft, you can uncheck the 3 boxes regarding the Ask Toolbar. You can use the Video software without the Ask toolbar.
- Once you have installed DVDVideoSoft, you can convert your video by doing the following:
- Use the first Browse button to select the input file, ie video file, you want to convert.
- Under Output folder, select the folder you wish to store the Flash file in by using the Browse button.
- Select SWF under the Formats dropdown.
- Select the video size using the Presets dropdown. I would recommend the High bandwidth cable / DSL (512 kb/s, 320x240). This was the size I used in the sample I sent you.
- You can uncheck the box for 'Show an HTML example file after conversion'.
- Press the 'Convert' button
- The pop-up screen will tell you when the conversion was completed.
- You now need to add the video to your content page. This is done in a manner similar to adding images:
- In the content editor for the page you want the video on, use the Insert / Edit Flash icon, beside the Image icon. It looks like a grey circle with a weird 'f' in it.
- Press the Browse Server button and upload your Flash file, the same way you would upload an image. Select the Flash file.
- On the Advanced tab, I recommend you uncheck the Loop button. If you leave Loop checked, the video will continue to play until the browser is closed.
- Press OK.
- You can center the video in the content area by selecting it and then using the align center button.
- I just created a new administrator account for my site. However, when they log in to the site, they see the main buttons down the left, but can't get to any of the functions. What have I done wrong?
- After you have changed the role type of a listener/ member account to be Administrator, you still have one step left:
- Go to the Account Manager function, under Administration.
- Find the administrator account, either by clicking on Administrators under Type, or searching for their email address.
- Click on the Privilege button beside their account.
- Click in the checkbox to the left of each of the functions that this administrator should have access to. If they should have access to all functions, click on the box to the left of the 'Toggle All' option at the top of the page to check all of the boxes.
- Click on the 'Update Access Privileges' button at the bottom of the page.
- If the administrator now logs in, or refreshes the administrator page, they should have access to all of the necessary functions.
- I just received an email from my Contact Us form on my website. But the From in the email says it is "from" support at connectorradio.com. How do I know who the email is actually from?
- When an email is received from the contact us form, the "From" field will be set to support at connectorradio.com since this is the true sender of the email. The email address of the person using the form is actually there in the email as a "Reply-to" address. If your email program does not show you this address, simply use the Reply button; it should come up with the "To" field filled in with the user's email address. This is done deliberately, to prevent the email from being flagged as spam.
- How do I get a list of all of the people who have signed up through our website?
- In the admin menu, go to Account Manager, under Administration. Click on the 'CSV Listener Report' button above the Search Results. This creates a 'csv' output file of all of your listeners. Depending on your browser settings, you will either be able to save the file, or open it directly in Excel. If you save the file first, you can then find it on your computer & open it in Excel. This lists all of your listeners info, including email address.
One note on this. There are two columns that the formatting will be messed up in Excel - first_login and last_update. To fix this formatting, do the following:
- Highlight / Select the two columns, by clicking on the first column letter, then holding the CTRL key while you click on the second column letter.
- Right click over either column and select 'Format cell...'.
- Select the Number tab in the pop-up window
- Select 'Date' in the list on the left.
- In the 'type:' list, scroll down and select an option that shows both date & time.
- Press OK.
- How do I add more theatres to show on my movies page?
- You can control the theatres shown by going to the Movies function, under Site Content / Entertainment, in the admin menu for each site. There are 2 things you need to do to add more movie theatres.
- Change the preferences search circle in Preferences.
- Go to the movies preferences (click on the Preferences button at the top of the movies page).
- Click on the dropdown under 'Size of search circle'. It defaults to Medium, but for Canyon, we changed this to 'Very Large'. This determines the range used for finding theatres in your area.
- Click on the Save button at the bottom of the page.
- Add the theatres you want to show.
- From the main Movies admin function, click on 'Add New'.
- Select the theatre you want to add, select yes for 'Is Active' and press 'Submit'.
- Repeat step 2 for each of the theatres you want to add.
- Change the preferences search circle in Preferences.
- Is there an easy way to copy content from one content page to another?
- There are a couple of tricks you can use to easily copy content from one page in the content editor to another, for example, on another one of your websites. Use the following steps:
- In the content editor of the page you want to copy from, click on the 'Source' button. This will show you the HTML code for the page.
- Select all of the text in the box. You can quickly do this on a Windows browser by using CTRL-A.
- Copy the selection into the clipboard. (CTRL-V)
- Go to the content editor of the page you want to copy the content into and click on the 'Source' button.
- Select all of the text in this box, as in step 2 above.
- Paste the selection from the clipboard. (CTRL-C).
- If you press the 'Source' button now, you should see the content from your original page.
- Save your changes.
